Mini Break at Slochd Mhor Lodge near Carrbridge

We both went to have a look at the hostel and we were very favourably impressed. It is light and airy but also warm. There is a beautiful big room with a wood stove for hanging out and singing, a very pleasant cooking dining area and comfortable bedrooms. All mod cons; it is the sort of place we would be very happy to spend a few days. It is set on the edge of the Cairngorms and there are walks from the door. It is 30 miles from Forres and took us about 50 minutes. Some one might even like to cycle there! (map)

We plan to go there anytime from 2pm on Friday but expecting people to be there by supper time, with a singing session after supper. Saturday we can sing in the morning and have time off in the afternoon for walks etc, and then another session in the evening. We can also sing on Sunday morning, having to leave the hostel by 3pm. Accommodation is in single sex dorms of four and there is one room for eight but this is the nicest room, big and light with a balcony and does not feel crowded. There is more space than Iona or even Eigg. We have not worked out exactly how to organise the cooking but it will be some mix of bring your own supplies and communal cooking.

We see this weekend as a social event for choir members which gives us the chance to go a bit deeper with the singing. We can take 20 choir members and are already about half full. A £25 deposit cheque to Kate O'Connell, secures your place. This deposit is non-returnable (at our discretion) unless we fill your place.
